Bently Reserve

Bently Reserve

San Francisco, California

The old Federal Reserve Building in San Francisco is a certified historical building that was built in 1926. In 1988 the building was converted into an office building but retained its character and historic fabric. CB Engineers was the original MEP consultants for the Old Federal Reserve Building.

Further remodeled in 2006, CB Engineers was involved in the building systems upgrade. This upgrade included a replacement of the existing R-12 water cooled chillers with new screw chillers with environmentally benign R-134a refrigerant, replacement of the existing fire alarm system and building management system as well as an upgrade of the entire building HVAC duct distribution system and VAV boxes. The building also implemented a state of the art lighting controls system with dimmable ballasts, daylight harvesting and full tenant and space scheduling. The project was submitted to the USGBC as a LEED certified project under the Core & Shell systems program with certification pending.

CB Engineers was hired to master plan this building upgrade to ensure the logistical implementation of the project respected the historical fabric of the original building, within the aggressive time frame to deliver utilities to the new tenants.
