The Intercontinental Hotel is a new 34 story structure which opened in February 2008. The hotel contains the main lobby, restaurants, kitchens, offices, Main Ballrooms, meeting rooms, offices, laundry facilities and 550-guest rooms.
Due to spatial constraints to provide for electric services, CB Engineers applied to, and received approval by, PG&E for the design of a 12-kilovolt primary electric service extension to the building, and not have to allocate for utility electric service accommodations at the ground-floor level. CB Engineers further sought (and received approval) to design a unique gas service extension to accommodate the building of a tunnel. Work was performed on time, and on budget.
