Along with our continued growth, we are currently seeking a performance driven Electrical Engineer capable to join our dynamically growing organization.

CB Engineers is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with 10 years of experience in large municipal transportation projects. This individual will also serve as head of the Electrical Department for the San Francisco office.

The Senior Electrical Engineer will independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on complex projects. To take an increasingly responsible role in the management of projects and to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas. This job is performed in both an office and field environment. Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with intra-department engineers and discipline leaders in all phases of the design production
  • Incorporate design concepts from schematic design into design development and final construction drawings
  • Perform calculations using engineering formulas and skills
  • Apply codes or identify alternatives and solutions to building code exceptions and devise new approaches to problems encountered
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work
  • Make design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications
  • Inform Project Manager of changes to design and/or scope that may impact deadlines, workloads, or assignments of the team or project and project budget
  • Stay abreast of, the project design and construction schedules. May provide input to client on CBE design schedule requirements
  • Control and monitor project engineering costs through the utilization of project management accounting software
  • Monitor project scope creep and work with Senior Project Manager on delivery of any additional client service requests
  • Develop satisfactory client relationships to ensure repeat business for the firm
  • Attend project coordination meetings with clients as required and internal project coordination meetings
  • Remain up to date in developments in the profession and within the organization as appropriate
  • Handle multiple, non-routine projects with efficiency and accuracy
  • Participate and contribute to a team effort, exchanging ideas and recommending improvements
  • Actively promote and instruct others in the use of Company design production standards & master specifications
  • May assist in aiding CADD and Jr. Designers and Engineers through technical instruction and explanation of engineering design concepts
  • Supervises group of designers and engineers
  • Carry out special projects and all other duties that may be assigned as needed

Requirements:

The ideal candidate must be a Licensed Professional Engineer with Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college. A minimum of 10 years in engineering design of large municipal transportation projects is required preferably in a consulting engineering firm or in the design department of a design build contracting firm.

The successful candidate must also have the following skills, knowledge, experience and abilities:

  • Possess high level of analytical ability used to solve complex problems
  • Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with the firm's personnel
  • Conversant with the firm's Management philosophy and organizational structure as appropriate
  • The ability to be sufficiently flexible and resourceful to cope with the inherent load fluctuations of the profession
  • Possess a strong understanding of applicable codes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of Auto CAD as a drawing and production tool
  • Proficient in Windows XP/7 and Microsoft Office including Outlook
